Adding a table to a page on your website

Tables can be very useful for organising your webpage content neatly, or for just being used as information tables. Tables are one of the more challenging aspects of content editing, so we recommend you have a good play with tables to learn how they will best work for you.

To add a Table to a Page on your Website:

  1. When you are editing your Page, click on the Insert/Edit Table icon.

  2. A pop-up window will appear with all your table options:

    • Rows: How many rows you want your table to have.
    • Columns: How many columns you want your table to have.
    • Width: How long you want the table to be. If you want the table to stretch the full width of your content area, choose 100 percent.
    • Height: The height you want the table to be.
    • Headers: Text in any header rows or columns will appear slightly larger and bolder than other text in the table.
    • Border Size: How large the table lines are. If you want them to be invisible, choose 0.
    • Alignment: Where the table aligns on the page.
    • Cell spacing: The space that will be placed between individual cells. Creates a "brick" like effect.
    • Cell padding: How close the content within the cell comes to the edge of the cell. If you choose 1, the content of the cell will sit right beside the edge of the cell. However, if you choose a higher number, the content will sit further and further away from the edge of the cell.
    • Caption: The text that will appear directly above your table.
    • Summary: A short description of the table.
  3. When you have made all your selections, click OK.

Your table will appear in the content of your webpage. You can make changes to any of the fields above by right clicking on the table and selecting Table Properties.

You must save the page you are editing in order to see your table on the website front end.

Editing a Table:

  1. To edit an existing table, right click in a cell then select Table Properties.
  2. A pop-up window will appear with all your table options:
    • Headers: Text in any header rows or columns will appear slightly larger and bolder than other text in the table.
    • Border Size: How large the table lines are. If you want them to be invisible, choose 0.
    • Alignment: Where the table aligns on the page.
    • Caption: The text that will appear directly above your table.
    • Summary: A short description of the table.

Editing an Individual Cell:

  1. To edit an individual cell within the table, right click on the cell then select Cell > Cell Properties.
  2. A pop-up window will appear with all your table options:
    • Width: The width of that individual cell. Keep in mind that this may change the width of the other cells in the same row and column.
    • Height: The height of that individual cell. Keep in mind that this may change the height of the other cells in the same row.
    • Horizontal Alignment: The alignment of the content within the cell.
    • Vertical Alignment: The alignment of the content within the cell.
    • Cell Type: Header will make the content larger and bolder than if you choose Data.
    • Rows Span: The number of rows that this cell will merge across
    • Columns Span: The number of columns that this cell will merge across
    • Background Color: Click on Select and choose the background color you want for this cell.
    • Border Color: Click on Select and choose the background color you want for this cell.
  3. When you are done making the changes you want, click Ok.

You must save the page you are editing in order to see your table changes on the website front end.
