Statistics

Every user that comes to your website is tracked while they are on your website. The system does not know who they are, but what it can determine is what they did while they were on your site.

You can access your site's Statistics by clicking on the "Statistics" tab once you have logged into www.thewebconsole.com

You can change the timeframe of the stats you are looking at by selecting either a timeframe of a set of dates near the top of the screen and hitting "Go".

  • Unique Visitors - The total number of unique visitors that have visited your site over the period. If a person returns to your site multiple times, they are still only counted once.
  • Total Page views - Also referred to as hits, this is the amount of times pages from your site have been requested by your visitors.

Traffic Sources

  • Search Engines - These are the visitors that originated from serach engines. Eg: they typed a search term into a search engine and clicked on a link to your site.
  • Referral Sites - This is where a user has clicked on a link from another site to get to your site.
  • Direct Traffic - The user typesd your domain name directly into the browser.

A well marketed website should have a fairly equal spread of the above traffic sources.

These are the keywords users have typed into the searh engines to find your site. The total views are the amount of visitors that have types in that kewyord and clicked on the link to your site.

Entry Page

Not all visitors will enter your website through the homepage. So this section will tell you what entry page most of your visitors are reaching first. This happens because Search Engines list all your pages in their index and try to give the user the most relevant page on your site depending on what they are searching for.
