How To Add A Domain Alias
Part 1: Navigate To Domain Aliases
Login to TheWebConsole
From the bottom-left corner of the main menu, click Settings.
The Settings panel will open. Select Website Settings.
Under Website Settings, select Domains.
Part 2: Add a Domain Alias
Click Add Domain Alias.
Enter the domain you would like to add.
For example:yourdomain.com.au
You do not need to include:- https://
- http://
- www.
Choose what you would like the domain alias to do.
You have two main options:
Use the domain as an alias for your main website
Choose Redirect to My Main Website if you want the new domain to work across your entire website.
This means visitors using the alias domain will be directed to the corresponding page on your main website, rather than just one specific page.
For example:
aliasdomain.com.au/contact-us will direct to the Contact Us page on your main website.
Redirect the domain to a specific location: If you want the domain to send visitors somewhere specific, select the appropriate option under Redirect To:
- Link On My Website – choose a particular page on your existing website.
- External Link – redirect visitors to a page or website elsewhere.
Once you have selected the appropriate option, click Create Domain Alias.
Part 3: Point the domain to our server
If your domain or DNS is already managed by TheWebConsole, you do not need to make any additional DNS changes.
If your DNS is managed by another provider, you will need to update the DNS records so the domain points to TheWebConsole.
Naked Domain
For the main domain, for example, yourdomain.com.au, add:
Record Type: A Record
Host Name: @ (or leave blank, depending on your DNS provider)
Points to: 13.55.222.232
TTL: 3600
WWW Domain
For www.yourdomain.com.au, add:
Record Type: CNAME
Host Name: www
Points to: elbtwc.com
TTL: 3600
Both records are required for the domain to work correctly.
If you are unsure how to update your DNS records, your domain or DNS provider can usually make these changes for you.
